A $28 Tasco Trail Camera is better than a $400 Reconyx
A lot of people on forums talk about the $28 Walmart Tasco trail camera. I have been a long time fan of Reconyx cameras. So I decided to go buy a couple Tasco cameras and test them out. The results were very shocking.
I paid for all of the cameras with my own money. No one supplied me with any cameras or asked me to do this comparison.

Wow ! You can buy 12 Tascos for the price of one Rekonics .
Interesting man. Thanks.
Like to see updates this year
What’s the amount of storage like for the excess of photos and footage clips from the taco compared to the amount of storage taken by the reconyx?
My ist Deer Rifle a Winchester Mod 70 Pre War pre 64 which in today’s market is worth 1,500.00 has a Tasco Scope on it that was placed on the rifle by my late Dad. Still in place and still zeros very well. So do not think Tasco is low quality.
In trail cams, most buy a name for status. I run all budget cameras and get more and better pics than ANY of the "name brand I’m the man cameras"…And i never have to buy batteries, not even to start off.
Think about it MORE CAMERAS MORE KNOWLEDGE!! GREAT REVIEW!!❤❤❤❤😮😮😮😮😂😂😂😂
How far does it detect

none of this is news to me, I’ve been running 15 -20 tascos every season for years. they’ve gotten a little better over time. however you will have 1 out of 3 crap out year 1, but cost wise its a no brainer if you’re just gathering intel. the more i get out the better even if i lose one once in a while to flooding or thieves its still cheaper than any other. Thanks for taking to time to compare them, you have helped other hunters save $$$.
Even if the Tasco got half the photos of the other I can put 12 cameras out for the cost of 1 $400 camera
Great Review! Thanks!
Thanks for the video! What camera do you use in your studio?
Now they are out of business.
I have 2 tascos and two from amazon that look just like them, and I can’t complain. The instructions are junk, but the cameras function great.
I dont mind pictures of nothing, if im getting more pictures of deer
I picked up a KJK cam off Amazon for $17. And surprisingly, it checks all my trailcam boxes. What are my boxes?
-Uses 1 big latch-not 2
-Uses a full growed SD card-not a micro easy to lose tiny card
-data strip includes an image number
-2" screen
!
My tascos been running 10 plus years have 30 of them lmao
Save some time and start at 2:30
A shame I found out about this specific one so late… Walmart app only had one left so I bought it! I have the older 8mp tasco and it works alright… seems to have some sorta crazy zoom going on instead of just capturing a wider angle at it’s true distance from the aim point. The battery life of it seems to be lasting a good bit even during the cold below 35 temps. I’ll have to keep an eye out for more 12mp cams. They also came out with the box style 20mp ones for the same price, so I’ll have to see the reviews for those next.
The tascos i used to buy for 30$ at walmart were terrible. Horrible night and day pictures, flash range and durability not to mention china made. My Reconyx are hands down way better, not even comparable. Best camera I’ve ever used out of 8 companies and the only one Made in USA, with a 5 year warranty but they’ll last 15 my buddy has several 10+ years old still taking pics.
I have 3 and they are awesome for pics and videos. Not trying for film quality units
Just curious if motion sensors can become less reliable over time? He did say the expensive cams were 4 years old or so..
Wouldn’t 5 years of technology development make a difference? I didn’t see anything about trigger speed. The better cameras often have a faster trigger speed on video, making the difference between getting the whole animal vs just their rear ends.
I bought 6 tasco trail cameras in Hillsboro TX. Walmart back in 2016 to use around our property for security. The only thing that has broken is the aim light and the IR shield on 2 of them they have been outside for over 2800+ days. You can’t beat the price or quality. I am looking to buy another 6 -12 mp, can’t find any
I bought a tasco in 2010 it still works but I’m an old guy and I don’t want to have walk my 44 acres collecting sd cards I like the cellular cameras the tasco is like 50ft from the cabin
Trust me there’s no comparison….idiot
You made the point I found most relevant at the end. We aren’t hoping to frame this stuff. If I can buy 16 cameras for the price of one, I’m in. Thank you for pointing this out.
My only critic would be that the cameras side by side might affect those pictures. I have found that when testing multiple cameras, one will catch the flash of the other. But you didn’t appear to have that issue.
Thank you,, I have inner city raccoon issues,,, they will get their Mug Shots taken shortly by the Tasco method. 👍😊
On the third year havent changed batteries yet, been out there year round. Not pro quality pictures by any means, but for 29 bucks you cant beat these.
Great video and thanks for being honest about it.
I had 5 tasco cams 3 were stolen. Still pisses me off. this year finally bought two that send them to my phone but no instructions 🙄. Had to go online and print them off. I haven’t gotten them in the field yet. Honestly considering returning them before I even use them bc they seem like a pain in the ass
Anyone have their cameras taken and any recommendations on how to Deter thieves. I have three cams now set up so I can see if someone messes with one I’ll get them on another one. Problem w that is. I don’t know about it till I check my cards and the asshat is long gone. If I use a cable does that really work on a padlock? I’d have to spray paint them to help hid them and then the deer would smell that This is on private land by the way.
I like my tascos simply bc of the price and easy to use. When you have a dozen in the woods and trying to get in and get out quick.
Except the crazy flash
👎
Sixteen minutes of BLA, BLA, BLA for thirty seconds of info..!
reconyx are the biggest rip-offs in the trail camera market. They have fallen behind so much, yet they still charge like they are top of the line in technology.
Great video. Am just starting to learn about it, and am ready to buy after this! Question for a beginner….how do you "see" the videos, pictures? Can you see photos on your phone? Thanks~
It would be nice if we knew the Tasco Model#
I have a few tasco cams they are better than all the other cameras i have and had them 5 years ago
Pretty Awesome review! Who wouldve ever thought! Just might have to try one
Hello.
There’s someone dumping garbage on a dirt private road we own. I’m looking for recommendations on which camera to buy.
The location of the camera is liking going to be away from electricity and internet connection. It would be great to capture the plates of the car as they have to drive slow and in front of the camera.
I was considering getting a game/trail camera with a subscription so I can have the pictures sent to me, but I doubt the clarity of the camera will capture the plates?
Any recommendations?
I have 8 of them and for 9 years I have been very happy.
How do you see the battery power level
Thank you❤John 3,16 ❤
I use these Tascos. Work great. Once in a while one will go bad but most keep on working.
Well bud, I guess TASCO stopped making trail cams.
Now what?
good review.
They’re electro magnetically interfering with each other with the sensors picking up on the others photo trigger. Whichever one picks it up first and sends out the software trigger it’s blocking the other ind from triggering. Which ever one picks it up first will tend to cancel out the other algorithm to activate the hardware.
But the Tasco branding and marketing isn’t as good.
Thanks! Well done!!
