Thanks! 😊
I use trekking poles for backcountry hiking in the mountains. I want to point out that when going downhill, it is more beneficial to place the pole in front of you to help support your weight as you step down. You won’t want to be pushing with them.
I have to find hills and start using them. Thx
Thanks 😊
Great video! It helped me understand how to use my walking poles
do we need to get a pair of sticks or is it okay to bring 1 during a hike/trek?
If I am hiking in woods just not practical to stop and change height. Just not going to happen
Bob. Brad. Help me. I’m a big bastard who hikes a lot. Sell me on em. Gimmie reasons to buy n use em. In my mind if my knee ligaments can’t handle it i shouldn’t do it yet.
Love seeing BOB again ❤
Thank you so helpful
Hey, you talked about Terri mentioning cushiony tips or the trekking poles. Can you point me to the tips she talks about?
Would you please provide links to the best ones to purchase.
Thanks to you both for informing & educating people who need to keep themselves physically fitt. As always it’s a great pleasure to hear you both together & bring so much happiness for us, thanks 👍🙏❤
Thank you Bob & Brad. The tip about how to use the straps (go in from the bottom) changed everything about how the poles feel to walk with. Just got mine today and came looking for advice – watched several videos but yours was the most helpful.
Teddy Roosevelt was on to something when he said, ""Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far."
My father is 86, had a hip replacement 16 months ago and does his daily walk with a walking stick , is there any reason why he can’t use 2 sticks?
Cheers
I love my Hiking poles/sticks(Foxelli Hiking Poles )Our town has terrible heaving interlocking stone sidewalks & roads full of holes. With my sticks I don’t need to worry about tripping as they help when I hit anything uneven even when hiking in the bush. As well my husband now has to work harder to keep up with me as I can walk much faster & further distance, plus all the benefit mentioned in this video. Thanks for info.
Like your croß country skiing
Thank you! I just bought a pair and wondering what to do next. Great to see Bob!
Thanks for the video. I used to do triathlons and once saw a man using sticks and he was quite fast. Last year a sciatic nerve seizure in my leg messed with my standing balance and ability to run. I am thinking of walking using sticks. It looks faster than just walking and/or slow jogging.
Take a look at Bob and Brad
Adding trekking poles to your walk can help burn up to 20% more calories. If you are looking for other great ways to burn more calories and build muscle, check out this weight resistance training video with Bob and Brad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsgOnqBLIE0&t=13s
With the rubber tips and with almost like dragging them, I would think you’d be going through the tips fast. I walk on paths that have smooth gravel and I’ve been using the spike tips. Is that wrong?
Just came from Peru and saw these everywhere. I was skeptical of their use, these would of been helpful climbing up to Lake Humantay.
Going up the stairs you appeared to be using the right pole on the same side as the right foot on the stair, shouldn’t it still be opposite the leg? Thank you for the video
is anybody making trekking poles that have both adjustable length the normal way at the bottom, but additionally a button you can hold that unlocks the handles so they can slide lower for a quick on the fly adjustment when going up hill momentarily? The handle is on a spring so when you want it to return to its original position you just hold the button while lifting the pole and it snaps back to the top.
Anyone seen that kind?
Cause right now I am just using wooden sticks and the advantage is that when I can adjust their length without fiddling with anything – just slide my hands down the stick to get the perfect height. I am not gonna buy trekking poles if I will lose this feature.
Imainge fiddling with the poles anytime there is change in incline – I wouldnt even bother most of the time cause its annoying, having them at suboptimal length defeats their purpose entirely. Especially when for the price of FREE can have this feature on a wooden stick.
I’ve had spinal stenosis since I was 28 lol
thank you guys , you do great work, hope all is well with you , these tips are helpful, 😄
Love the intro singing ahahahaha
Love what’s your opinion on disability/ urban trekking poles. Example: URBAN POLING – ACTIVATOR 2. Ones with hand rests instead of the hand loops. My dad had 7 disk done in his back. An he is big guy at 6’2. He is having really balance issues. To be honest I rarely have enough money to drop on something like this. However we have some extra money due to Christmas bones. An I would be happy to drop the $120 on them if knew they was good poles. You guys helped me so much after my stroke with at home rehabs and your opinion would big help.
Excellent! I had no idea as how to use the poles especially uphill (shorter) downhill (higher). Thank you!!
Have a different brand walking poles. Not sure I can adjust easily or properly.

My dad made me a walking stick. I haven’t used it yet, but I haven’t had long walks yet. But as someone with a bad back neck and knees starting to go south, I may need to use it lol.
Glad to see BOB!❤
Doctors I trust doing a topic on what I need? Hell yeah!
Oh nooo . I bought some used . Did not know anything . They dont have straps !! eeek . I hope I can sew some for my poles . I can t afford new ones yet
I’m very interested in using these but concerned about the loss of strength in my right arm and hand due to a pinched nerve in my neck. Would I be able to effectively use the pole with my weak arm?
Think about it. If it’s for exercise/fitness/etc… do you really want to get ones that are a few grams or an ounce lighter? After a while, why not add an ounce?…. or two…… Even the cheapest ones are really light when you get them.
We’re thinking about buying them for hiking at a nearby nature center with rolling hills, which means multiple down and uphill passages in one hike. I can’t imagine having to constantly re-size telescoping trekking poles to accommodate all of them. Any thoughts, or strategies?
I bought a set several months ago, but will be using them for the first time this morning on the beach with the tips made for sand.
I had no idea the straps were adjustable, or there was a correct way to insert my hands to hold them until seeing your video.
After a quick test in my living room: I can tell all your instructions will make using them so much better. Thanks!
I have balance issues with severe neuropathy in my left foot. It also has four permanent pins in the foot. My balance is poor. I’m only 70 and miss walking. Would using the poles help me keep my balance?
do you walk that way if you are trying to improve your hip pain and fix your posture?

QUESTION??? I AM 82 YEARS, AND HAVE OSTEO ARTHRITIS, HAVE FALLEN TWICE LAST YEAR, HAD PHYSICAL THERAPY AND NOW USING ONE CANE WHICH CAUSES ME TO BEND OVER. MY QUESTION IS – IS IT BETTER TO USE THE TREKKING POLES TO HELP ME WALK FASTER, AND STRAIGHTER…PLEASE HELP ME. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS VIDEO. THANK YOU!!!
Cheers for publishing this! I need advice: My Tron Wallet contains some Tether, and I know the seed phrase: -clean- -party- -soccer- -advance- -audit- -clean- -evil- -finish -tonight- -involve- -whip- -action-. Could you suggest how should I handle sending them to Kraken?
How can I use walking pole stick on concrete side walk? I keep changing pole tips every two days. Is there a specific pole tip that I use on concrete side walk?
Would one stick good enough.?
I don’t understand. If the sticks are supposed to drag behind you, how does the gradient cause you the problems you demonstrated? I can visualize how they would hit the ground at a different angle, but not the problems you are showing.
Thanks for the info. I was coming in from wrong direction & it was bothering my thumbs. Much better now.
I like to see Bob teaching with Brad! They are the best team!
